Pop Warner's Mighty-Mite division recently wrapped-up a winning season. Head coach and football director Sergio Corvil explains the conference does not keep standings for the Mighty-Mite division, but in all 10 games played, they defeated every team they faced for a perfect season. An instructional division of 7 to 9 year olds weighing a maximum of 90 lbs, Mighty-Mites is open to any child wishing to play. Participants learn the basic fundamentals of tackle football. This year, Metuchen Pop Warner had five football teams and 4 cheerleading teams. Other divisions in the league are Flag (ranging in age from 5-7 yrs), Junior Pee Wee, the first level of competitive football (8-10 yrs and a max weight of 105 lbs), Pee Wee (9-11 and a max weight of 120 lbs or 12 yr olds who weigh up to 100 lbs) and Midgets, the oldest level (mainly 7th and 8th graders with a max weight of 160 lbs).
