New Brunswick Soup Kitchen to Stop Serving Tuesday Lunch

From an NJ.com article:

The organization experienced a 21 percent increase in meals served between September and October, but lacks the funding to keep up with increased demands, said Lisanne Finston, executive director of Elijah's Promise.  "In short we are facing a crisis like we have never experienced before," Finston said in a statement. "Meals are up 21 percent, and donations are dramatically down as our longtime donors are also struggling. A few weeks ago, over 80 children showed up for dinner at our family feeding program."

Thanksgiving is Thursday.  Dozens of local families will be hungry this afternoon; Tuesday lunch has now become a luxury.   Perhaps you're involved with a civic group looking for a holiday service project.  Visit www.elijahspromise.net for more information or to donate.
