EMS Recieves NEMGS Donation 009.JPGA vest full of badges and a reflective safety vest; both symbolic of commitment to community service and united as the girls of the North Edison Metuchen Girl Scout (NEMGS) Service Unit presented Metuchen EMS with a donation of $377.00.

Inspired by the story of squad members buying their own safety vests, troop leader Germaine Wyetzner thought it would be great for the girls to help.  "Each troop makes a small profit from cookie sales and EMS gives so much to the community, not only by providing life-saving medical services but also by coming to troop meetings and teaching both scouts and leaders life saving skills.  I asked each troop to consider donating a small amount of cookie profit to help pay for the vests" said Mrs. Wyetzner.
NEMGS unit leader Angela Attanasio and all of the troop leaders whole-heartedly agreed.  And so, last week, girls of all ages attended an EMS meeting to present their check to president Lisa Garris who said "Thank you, every time we put one on, we will think of you guys." Councilman Chris Morrison was also in attendance and told the girls "On behalf of the entire town, I want to thank you. In a community such as ours, the importance of public service is immeasurable and thanks to your leaders, you are learning that lesson early in life. Your gift will keep our EMS members safe while they are keeping our town safe."

Thanks from all of us, girls. Cookies are currently on sale - stock-up on your favorites while you can! And click here for information on how to donate online to EMS.
