Metuchen Nursery Schools: A Directory for Open House Season

At this time of year, parents with preschool-aged children are starting the scramble of finding what they feel is the best (and often most conveniently located) nursery school program for their beginning student. Metuchen actually has a plethora of choices so to make it less complicated, we've put together a list so you don't have to! Most schools in the area are sponsoring open houses over the next couple of months so check out this directory of our area's available programs and call for a tour or open house schedules. And if you've already made these key decisions, we want to know what your recommendations and warnings are (be nice), based on your personal experiences at these institutions. Thanks!

Hi, I just came across these listings for different preschools in the Metuchen area. We are trying to sign our son up for preschool starting this September and visited Community Nursery School. I am interested to know if anyone can share any experiences they have had with this school -- good or bad! I saw some of the above comments saying it was a good school, but I would like more details. If anyone can help, I would appreciate it! Thank you very much in advance.

Yes, "markets" is a good word. I will refrain from further comment, maybe.

The Preschool Experience markets itself as obht an enrichment program and a preschool program. If you sign up for all the programs in your child's age group, you will have a varied curriculum that would match the average 2.5 hour, 3 day a week programs at most nursery schools.

Just wanted to mention that the Preschool Experience is not a real school, it is an enrichment program. If you have a kid with special needs or needs medication, go elsewhere.

Community Nursery School is great!

We've signed our daughter up for centenary because we like that it is affiliated with the y.

Community Nursery School is a great program. My daughter still talks about her favorite teachers and we keep in touch with them.

As far as their programs of study, all-day centers also offer a preschool curriculum for age-appropriate students so they are listed here because of those services.

Daycare centers and preschools should not be lumped together into the same list!

We added it--thanks! Don't forget, constructive comments about curricula are welcome!

Neve Shalom Nursery School is another fine Metuchen choice.
