Tractor-Trailer Swipes Street Sign, Causes Backup on 27

An eighteen-wheeler took a wide turn onto Middlesex Avenue-Route  27 off Main Street during evening rush hour and knocked down the street sign and its supports. Three police vehicles are at the scene right now diverting traffic at the gas station across from Borough Hall. Traffic is now backed up well towards Edison on 27 in the southbound lane. The truck does not seem to have suffered too much damage--most of the damage is to the sign and the concrete supports which have been rendered loose from the ground. If you're out traveling tonight, find a different route!

We are all glad no one was injured. It was quite a mess!

While the sight of trucks, police cars, flashing lights, heavy equipment, and all other sorts of chaos was emmensely exciting to my 3 year old son, this accident caused a TERRIFIC mess. glad no one was hurt.
