Inspirations Florist Makes the Tough Decision to Close

Inspirations 001.jpgAfter many years in their Main Street location, the owners of Inspirations Florist have decided to pack-up the Metuchen store.  I went to visit them at their flagship store, Floral Expressions, in Woodbridge and Kurt, the floral designer customers of Inspirations may remember, said that although it was a terribly hard decision, the volume of business could no longer justify the second location.  It was even hard to keep a good supply of flowers in stock at the Metuchen store; turnover wasn't quick enough to ensure their freshness.

The store in Woodbridge continues to thrive though and Kurt hopes his long time Metuchen customers will stop by and say hello.

I will miss their lovely arrangements and selection of out-of-the-ordinary floral choices.  It's a sad reality - lots of car traffic doesn't always result in lots of shopping.  Let's hope through these tough economic times we can still find a bit extra to help support our favorite local merchants.

If you like out-of-the ordinary, E&e will special order whatever you want. The owner Ed has always been very helpful.

I used to go there to get flowers as subject matter for my botanical drawing class. The last time I went I knew something was wrong--the selection in the cases had dwindled and the flowers weren't as fresh so I had to find another source.

We used to go to Kaiser's until they closed and since then we have used E&e Flowers on the corner of Main and Middlesex, right across from Boro Hall, so there is still a "local flower shop." The owners of E&e are a very nice couple. There is also another florist in the old Jack's Flower shop space on South Main, but I forget the name of it.

Another reason the downtown area is becoming known as a "bankrupt district".
Something must be done or we will have a ghost town within a year.

Inspirations was my family's florist.
From corsages and buttonieres purchased over the years for Daddy Daughter Date Nights and years for Snowball and prom, Inspirations saw generations of Metuchen's kids grow up.

We purchased beautiful bouquets for every occasion and wonderful houseplants.
The local flower shop will be missed.

The first five years I was here I didn't know it was even a florist.

I went there a couple times when their sign said they would be open, but they weren't. That couldn't have helped.
