Too Close for Comfort: Downtown Manhattan, Jersey City See Planes, Relive 9/11

An Air Force One lookalike swooped about and flew close to buildings in the vicinity of the 9/11 attacks on both the New York and New Jersey sides of the Hudson on Monday around 10AM. Without public notification, many citizens felt that they were watching a replay of that horrible day almost eight years ago. Metuchen resident Bill Memory works at 10 Exchange Place, in offices that overlook the lower Hudson and the shores of the financial district across the river: "There was a lot of confusion and delay--offices emptied out and people [who had experienced 9/11] first hand were completely freaked out. Several of my colleagues left, visibly shaken, for the rest of the day." Both Mayor Bloomberg and President Obama had tough words for the miscommunication that ended up in this disturbing visage, creating a deja vu that many people would have preferred not to experience.

The Wall Street Journal is worried about damag to the environment? Funny, funny stuff.

The irony is just delicious...

Fire someone Obama....this is a new administration, right?

stop watching FOX...The Wall Street Journal actually had a better article on the not only wasteful, unkind to the environment and stupid glamor shot stunt that the White House and Air Force pulled.

"Have you forgotten..."

Hopefully Hannity, Limbaugh, and Fox will keep pushing this. This is the most important issue in America today.

yawn...

Please don't mention 9/11 or show any video of the event...it might upset the radical Muslims that want to behead us. How can we ever become friends with the terrorists if we keep bringing up the 9/11 thing? Don't rebuild ground zero, if we keep pushing it back than everyone might forget. However I heard the new stadiums are really nice.

I'm so glad I was in midtown yesterday and missed this.

So sad the world is full of bullies who will make fun of others for being sensitive. Some of these people probably have PTSD from Sept. 11 and had flashbacks. Have some compassion for your fellow citizens.

That stunt must have been torture for anyone working downtown who was in the Towers during the attack. I wonder if the Adminstration will look to charge anyone.

So how "green" is flying a plane around just for a photo op? What, no one in the White House knows how to photo shop a picture?

It amazes me that none of the brillant Harvard grads working at the White House or the FAA thought that this was a bad idea (besides a huge waste of taxpayer money). The people who pushed this idea and the bosses that did not voice any concern over this mess need to get fired before they kill someone. There are plenty of people with some common sense that need jobs.

the metuchen drudge report

need to get yourself the little flashing siren picture

Watch out for swine flu, gonna get ya!

A colleague whose husband died in Tower 2 on 9/11 went home yesterday--the last time she saw planes like that fly as close to her office window was the day she lost her husband. How dare you belittle the reactions of anyone who witnessed the events of the actual day--no one is a coward for being scared by an event that bore some resemblance to the events of that day. Clearly you don't know anyone who was there or you wouldn't mock someone's reaction to the situation. If your mom never taught you this, I will--everyone reacts differently to events and no one is right or wrong for being emotional about something difficult.

Spoken like someone who was nowhere near Ground Zero on 9/11. To say that we are cowards, because we saw a low-flying jumbo jet circling lower Manhattan, just like we did on 9/11, and got concerned is ridiculous. And you'd never say it to anyone who was there on 9/11 to their faces, because YOU are the coward.

God, we are such cowards now
