AN IMPORTANT MESSAGE FROM THE METUCHEN POLICE DEPARTMENT:
There have been a rash of vehicle burglaries to unlocked cars throughout the Borough:
§ April 30 (or early May 1) 4 vehicles:
§ May 18 (or early May 19) 11 vehicles: 5 on Home Street, 1-Robbins Place, 1- Woodbridge Ave, 1-Dorian road, 1-Carlton Road
The police would like to get a message to all residents:
PLEASE LOCK YOUR CAR DOORS!!!
Even if you forget to lock your car does not give anyone the right to go into your car and steal from it. Get these thieves out of our town.
Who is dumb enough to leave their doors unlocked? Might as well leave your wallet on the street unattended.
Zero sympathy from me.
I will never understand why people leave their cars unlocked, especially with valuables in them.
I have a hunch this has been going on for more than a month. I left my car unlocked Thanksgiving evening and had a camera, change and miscellaneous items taken.
Probably a good idea not to keep any valuables in your car either, take the phone, gps, bluetooth inside with you.
