To celebrate the opening of 'Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian,' this Thursday night, The Raconteur will host Jake Cherry, the young star of both 'Night at the Museum' and its sequel (opening in Theaters on May 22nd). The evening will include a screening of the original movie, introduced by Jake, who will also share movie props, photos, and stories of his experiences during filming (and popcorn is included!).
We spoke with Jake a bit about acting and working on the film - here's just a taste of his experience. We hope you're able to make it to The Raconteur on Thursday for more Hollywood-insider fun!
How did you get your start in acting?
My older brother was an actor when he was little and one day his agent asked me if I wanted to try acting. While my brother no longer acts, I've never stopped.
What is Ben Stiller like? He is just a normal person, who is really smart and can make people laugh.
Do you have any stories about Ben or the other really funny actors in the movie? While filming the first Night at the Museum, Robin Williams picked up a prop gun and sombrero and began doing the Mexican Hat Dance. The cast and crew all clapped along.
What was your favorite part of making N@M2? The best part of filming the sequel was seeing the friends I made while filming the first movie.
What can movie-goers look forward to in the sequel? This movie is filled with even more historical figures that come to life.
Didn't we see you in a recent episode of Criminal Minds? You're right. I did play a blind boy who befriends his mothers' killer in an episode of Criminal Minds titled 'The Big Wheel.'
Do you know what your next project will be? I just finished filming the Disney movie 'The Sorcerer's Apprentice' with Nicolas Cage. It comes out next summer.

My kids are so excited - see you tomorrow night
You can always check our calendar for Raconteur events weeks in advance! You can also click through to the Rac website through our site at the bottom of the ad column to see what's coming up in the coming months. Thanks!
The Raconteur has done other events at the Presbyterian Church's Social Center.
Could be that there wasn't a big heads up because they didn't want that big a crowd coming because of space, or maybe that the star just confirmed that he would come.
Wish we had more of a heads up. My child would have loved it.
Seems to me that the showing of the first "Night at the Museum" and having the star there would be better placed in the Forum. I can't imagine that the current location has enough room for the many people that would like to attend. I know this was put together by the Raconteur, but wouldn't a much bigger venue be more fitting?
Know its too late now, but just a thought for the future. This sounds like an incredible night.
Alex, that is just super! I am so sorry I will be teaching that evening...
That's really cool! 1 question - does that mean the movie shown will be Night at the Museum I, right, not II?
