Fifteen 5th grade Cub Scouts from Pack 69 in Metuchen celebrated their Crossover to Boy Scouts earlier this month. State Representatives Peter Barnes and Patrick Diegnan; Mayor Jun Choi of Edison; and Metuchen Council Representative Richard Weber (filling in for Mayor Vahalla, who had another commitment that evening) were on hand to acknowledge the boys' accomplishments and offer them congratulations and praise. Each commended the parents for encouraging their sons' participation in scouting - an organization which strives to develop character and competence in young men.
All 15 scouts were awarded the Arrow of Light, the highest honor available to a Cub Scout. In addition, 11 boys -- Joseph Conroy, Peter Conroy, Ethan Knecht, Michael Greenfeder, Nikolai Krebs, Patrick Reid, Owen Krause, Joseph Camello, Brendan McCunney, Casey Puerzer and Romeo Tiu received the Super Achiever award for accomplishing each of the 20 activities recommended for the Webelos program. Webelos requirements include activities in areas such as science, physical fitness, emergency first aid, engineering, water safety, and citizenship.
And something else to be proud of, 14 boys from Pack 69 and 2 from Pack 25 (Fords) received scouting religious awards at St Francis Cathedral this past Saturday night.

Congrats the scouts and all the parents!
