You may have heard by now that the pool was closed again today. According to Councilman Pete Cammarano, the decision to close was made by pool management, with commission approval, because of cloudy water. According to Pete "We have been frustrated by this issue all summer and have been working with our engineering firm and the manufacturer to figure out the problem and the solution...
...Earlier today, we received approval from the filter manufacturer to use a different material to filter particles. The new material is capable of filtering smaller particles (under 5 microns) and we are hopeful it will help clear the water. We needed approval from the manufacturer to be sure we were not doing anything that would harm the mechanical system or void the warranty. Also, it should be noted that the chemical composition of the water has been and is within the safe levels for swimming. The clouding is a safety issue because it limits visibility.
I understand that this has been a difficult situation for everyone and on behalf of the Borough Council and the Pool Commission, I want to assure everyone that we are doing everything possible to determine the cause of the cloudy water and fix the problem as quickly as possible."

Will the pool be open tomorrow? Pete hopes so. "It looked better when I left tonight and I'm hopeful that the new materials will work better. This has been very frustrating because we can't pinpoint the cause."

I heard the former pool manager told them not to buy this filter because it was the same technology they had previously replaced.
It has to be all the suncreen. People put it on and then jump right in the pool, so it washes right off.
This is disappointing particularly considering the extensive problems with the pool last summer. That said, I do appreciate Councilman Cammarano keeping people informed and taking responsibility to find a solution. Last summer many members of the council spent time passing the buck rather than finding a solution and keep residents informed.
The pools are both open. The baby pool runs on a different filter and so it should not be affected.
Is the baby pool staying open?
