From Metuchen Pop Warner President, Glenn Shapiro:
The regular season is winding down. All our teams have played hard this year! Our Flag kids are having a blast and both the Midget and Mighty Mite teams will look to extend their winning streaks. The Jr Pee Wees have secured a playoff spot but are looking to sure up their seeding after their first loss last weekend. They face an undefeated Bound Brook team. The Pee Wee team looks to lock up their playoff spot with a victory against Bound Brook. Very big football day this weekend in Metuchen!
Metuchen Pop Warner and the Junior Midget Cheerleaders are helping the Bennett Family support the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation International Walk to a Cure. There will be a donation table at the field this Sunday. Please consider donating there or directly through their website at http://walk.jdrf.org/walker.cfm?id=87550225
I would like to remind everyone that Metuchen Pop Warner is scheduled to host the 2nd annual, 2-day Dawg Bowl on Saturday, November 7 and Sunday, November 8. This is a 2-day exhibition tournament open to any Pop Warner teams who are looking to either extend their seasons or looking for a tune-up game before they move on in the playoffs. Last year we hosted 8 games over a 2-day period, with 11 different Pop Warner organizations being represented including our own Metuchen Midgets. We have had a great deal of early interest in this year's Bowl games and we are hopeful to expand it to 10 total games this year.
WE WILL NEED PLENTY OF VOLUNTEERS ON THOSE TWO DAYS. If you are still looking to satisfy your work bond requirements please consider working on those days, and for anyone else who is willing please send an e-mail to me or your team parent. We will need plenty of snack bar and field crew workers. This is a great opportunity for MPW to make additional money which will go a long way in keeping our fees down and providing for capital improvements.
The booster books are going to press today and will be distributed next week. In the past we tried to have them available earlier in the year but there were some delays beyond our control in getting them done this year. I am looking for 1 or 2 volunteers who may be willing to take this over for next year. If you think you may be interested, please let me know ASAP.
Thanks and we look forward to seeing you on Sunday.

There is a girl on the pop warner mighty-mite football team, and she is good! Come watch a a game and find out!
Girls play football and the cheerleaders are athletes in and of themselves.
Can someone please confirm for me that, if they want, girls are allowed to take part in football in Metuchen Pop Warner -- and aren't just encouraged to sit on the sidelines and cheer?
