This month we celebrate our 1st anniversary. When we started, we believed the community could benefit from real time, interactive information and communication. We're still trying to figure out the best way to accomplish that but here are some of our stats from the past year:
· There have been 111,248 visits to the site
· 13,334 of which are "unique users" (or individual households or business locations)
· We average over 10% new readers each week
· Readers come from 10 different countries and read us in 10 different languages(we've had 100 visits from
· Users connect via Cable 50% of the time, DSL 20% and 2.8% of you still dial-up
In looking back over some of our 669 posts, we realize the site documents what has happened in town as much as announce what is happening or will happen. Our first snowfall last year came on October 29th, I'd forgotten that.
We've featured stories on people who make Metuchen what it is - a close knit, diverse, and interesting place -- people who have done and do lovely things. We hope to post more stories like those.
You've posted 5,632 comments on the site but only about 400 since we required registration a little more than 3 months ago. Most of you are more comfortable with anonymity. That's okay, hopefully we'll get a little bit more brave as time goes on.
Throughout the year we added a calendar, which we hope every organization in town will use so that there is one clear location for our many events. We've added a button that leads to the Public Works recycling schedule (should you misplace yours) and have added, due to your suggestions, links to many related and important entities from our home page.
Our goals for the next year include encouraging municipal organizations to send us posts of what is going on. We just can't be everywhere and both need and value your input. Many of you have started sending us stories and it's been helpful and appreciated.
We've met so many great people and have learned so much about our town. Thanks for sharing our journey.

Yeah for you! and the Happiest of Birthdays! You have been a wonderful source of information, sharing and advertising. You help us make great use of this digital age into which we are all being propelled! You have taken Metuchen's "Hometown Main Street Spirit" and translated it into electronic media...very cool!
Thank you Metuchen Matters and HAPPY BIRTHDAY! Your work, this website, has added to the closes of the community. MM is a huge and valuable resource to Metuchen and is in part what differentiates us from other communities. I too hope more organizations will send posts along and I hope the municipal government will use it more as this is my primary source of local news and happenings. As Martha Stewart would say “Metuchen Matters, it’s a good thing”.
In Ukrainian we say "Mnohaya Lita" Many Years!
Keep up the good work!
Happy birthday MM!! :)-lori
