Kids' Spring Programming Coming to the Forum--Classes Starting this Week

From the Forum Theater Arts Center:

The Forum Theatre Arts Center announces spring line-up for Family and educational programming! It's a welcome sight to see children pouring off school buses and into Metuchen's historic Forum Theatre.  For many children, this will be their first live-theatre experience and certainly a memorable one.  After a two-year hiatus, A Kids Forum - the professional theatre for young audiences division of the theater, has re-opened, presenting  top-notch, professional theatre to young audiences and adults.

The Forum's newest legacy, Stars on Stage, kicked off this fall with a sell-out production of ANNIE.  Stars On Stage, continues this spring offering budding performers their chance in the spotlight.  The non-profit institution is offering classes in acting, dance, scene study, screen writing, film making, stand-up comedy, musical theatre and music. First-rate professionals and experienced educators will be teaching students as young as age three in a fun and positive environment. And EVERY STUDENT will get their time to shine on the Forum Theatre Stage in front of an audience.

"We are working with amazingly talented people, such as rock veteran, Ray Andersen [Mr. Ray] says Karin Leone, Managing Director of the theatre.  "who teaches  'Mr. Ray's Train To Rock Academy' exclusively at the Forum . . . or star in a full-scale musical in a real, professional theatre!"   Leone says. " Our teachers have performed on levels that most people only dream about - Broadway, Opera, movies, TV - and they are going to teach your kids how they did it!"  The convenience of this historic theatre's location, coupled with affordable quality entertainment, is an incentive for supporters of the arts, near and far, to travel to the brainy Borough of Metuchen to satisfy their entertainment needs.

The Forum Theatre has been the Cultural Arts Center of Metuchen since 1928, when it was built and utilized as a Vaudeville tryout house and community theatre.  At the height of its success, The Forum was a thriving regional theatre presenting a vast array of top-notch entertainment.  After a two-year hiatus, this historic landmark venue is undergoing a grass-roots revival returning headliner and regional live theatre, musicals, concerts, films and more to its Central New Jersey base.  The theatre also serves as a host for special events, presentations and meetings.  This fall, the Forum will be offering classes in stage acting, improvisation, scene study, stand-up comedy, screen writing and more, in addition to instrumental music lessons, to enhance the community's access to the arts for both children and adults.  The theatre is conveniently located two blocks from the train station and is easily accessible via mass transit.  A list of upcoming shows follows.  For more information visit www.forumtheatrearts.org
