The Metuchen Cultural Arts Commission is sponsoring a free jazz concert on September 25, 2010, at the Metuchen Open Air Theater  (the MOAT) at Borough Hall.

This double-bill show features:

 ·      Vida Allworthy with Steve Kaplan's Occasional Trio

·      Mary Foster Conklin with Art Lillard's On-Time Band

This program is partially funded using a grant from the Middlesex County Cultural and Heritage Commission.

"This concert is another fine example of the Metuchen Cultural Arts Commission's commitment to fostering a lively music and arts scene in Metuchen," said Mayor Vahalla. "From concerts and movie screenings to Shakespeare in the Park and the Junebug Arts Fest, the Commission's goal is to bring in great artists and make their talents accessible to the whole community." 

Artist Bios:

·      Vida Allworthy, a singer, dancer, and choreographer, is fresh from leading roles in national tours of Smokey Joe's Café and Duke Ellington's Sophisticated Ladies.

·      Mary Foster Conklin has been described in the Washington Post as "a sensitive artist (but not frail) with a wide-ranging, boldly colored voice and an open ear for off-beat material."
