Blizzard Aftermath in Metuchen -- Notices

chris2.jpgWith the 18 inches of snow we got over the last 24 hours, Metuchen is pretty much closed down, except for snowplows roaming the streets. All municipal offices are closed today except for the most essential (aka plowing) and the Library and Senior Center are closed as well. The What's the Scoop blood drive has been rescheduled until Thursday from 2-8PM.

The snow is lovely, you have to admit, and Councilman Christopher Morrisson and his family sent us some lovely snapshots of Tommy's Pond and beyond to mark the occasion. Although the blizzard warning is over, the high winds are causing serious snowdrifts so enjoy the chance to stay home, hang out and enjoy a little extra holiday togetherness. Send us your snowstorm stories!

Steve. Good for you and before it is over a lot more people are going to be pissed off. But darn glad you pitched in with the neighbors. Too many attitudes around waiting for government help. I am not waiting for anyone. Start opening them drains or you are going to find some nice cool pools of water in your basements.

joe, dont know the answer to that one, except a lot of workers are pissed off, rightfully or not. add in that the money is not the same as before. And, I did help out the neighbors, not sure why farness would think otherwise. no attitude here.

Guys, The mess on the streets will be taken care of in the next few days with or without the Boro. Warm weather is coming I have been all around Metuchen. It is in pretty good shape compared to the rest of the state. Steve you are right we voted in the problem. Only, starting about thirty years ago with every D and every R who spent evey bit of money they could and left nothing. Don't kid yourself Steve. There is no money. Unless Frank Pallone gets emergency federal funding. Which is what he is working on as I write. But, the both of you can help because the mess in the streets is going to get cleaned up long before the mess in the sidewalks and drains are. So why don't the both of you do like we did around my neighborhood on Grove Avenue and help the neighbors who can not clean up the sidewalks and drains do so or are you guys taking a North Jersey/New York attitude and saying let the Boro solve it? Last time I looked we were not a city.

Not sure I understand what you mean, Steve. Please explain further. Regardless of how NJ voted, Right, Left, whatever....how does one explain city trucks driving with their snow plow up? If you can drive on the street, why can't you drop the plow down and move the snow? Thanks.

Its a statewide situation. People in NJ voted in this situation.

I have not read any posts regarding the lack of snow plows in Metuchen, I'll take the lead then. Lake Ave - mess; Division St- mess; High St - mess. Just to name a few in my area. I even saw the Public Works truck drive with the plow up! I'm writing a letter to the Mayor....maybe an email instead.
