With some actual state aid, approximately $400,000 worth, and exceptional effort on the part of district personnel at all levels, the School Budget being presented to the town for approval during the April election creates fewer changes than expected. There may be some changes on the board, however, as there are three incumbents running (Jackie Gibson, Dan Benderley, and Artie Flaherty) and one newcomer (Mark Camera).
The Board of Education will hold elections on Wednesday, April 27th, with polls open from 2PM-9PM. But to make sure that you make an informed choice when you vote, The Metuchen Parent-Teacher Council is presenting a MEET THE CANDIDATES NIGHT on Tuesday, April 5th at 7PM in the Metuchen High School cafeteria. If you are interested in attending, all Metuchen residents are invited--this question and answer session will also be broadcast by METV live. If you are interested in posing questions for the candidates, you must arrive early at MHS and submit them yourself.
What questions do you have for the Board of Ed candidates? Do you think enhanced school funding from the state is enough?
