From the Arts Council/Recreation Commission:

It's summer time and the time is right, once again, for dancing in the streets in Metuchen. The Metuchen Arts Council in association with the Metuchen Recreation Commission, will present its annual outdoor summer concert series, "Metuchen Rocks!" every Thursday night in August at 7:30 p.m.

The concerts are free and take place in the heart of downtown Metuchen on the corner of Center and New Streets.

This year's concert series includes four New Jersey bands with diverse styles starting with a dance party on August 4th featuring the Latin rhythms of David Cedeno and His Latin Orchestra.  The music continues with Metuchen's own hometown rockers The Spidermonkeys on August 11th, the perennial blues favorite Night Train on August 18th, and the contemporary jazz/rock/roots jamming of The Atmosperics on August 25th.

The David Cedeno Latin Orchestra featured on August 4th combines a repertoire of Latin salsa, Latin jazz, meringue and contemporary ballads arranged with a Latin beat.  COME PREPARED TO DANCE!   The Orchestra's line up for Metuchen includes Wilfredo Lugo on piano, Alberto Rodriguez on bass, Jose Ortiz on congas, Miguel Otero on timbales, Ivan Burgos on vocals, Khadafy Kahn on trombone and Ralphie Cedeno on back up vocals.  Bandleader David Cedeno, who performed in the movie EL CANTANTE with Jennifer Lozpez and Marc Anthony, is on trumpet.

On August 11th, the Spidermonkeys will bring their eclectic mix of classic rock, blues, country, plus their own original tunes to the party.   The band members include Metuchen's own Zack Leffand on lead guitar and Lou Petto on drums, with Jim Toscano on rhythm guitar and vocals, and the fabulous MR. FIN on trumpet, flute, and keyboard.
