LOCALLUNCH.jpgNews from Metuchen Market Day:

On Saturday, September 24th, at 11:30 am, Janna Morishima, a Metuchen mom and enthusiastic foodie, will give a presentation at the Metuchen Market Day Farmers Market called "Local Lunchables:Lunchbox Recipes from the Farmers Market." The presentation will include demonstrations of how to prepare sandwiches, Asian-style lunches, and healthy snacks, and attendees will receive a handout with recipes and additional tips.

"We are all extremely busy and putting together a healthy lunch every day sometimes seems overwhelming," Morishima says, "but with a little advance planning it can be a snap." All of the recipes Morishima discusses will incorporate ingredients from the vendors at Metuchen Farmers Market.

Morishima and her husband have a first grader at Campbell School, and Morishima is a self-taught cook. Metuchen Market Day is a seasonal, weekly farmers market held each Saturday from 9 am to 2 pm in Metuchen at the corner of New and Pearl Streets, and includes a variety of vendor products ranging from fruit and produce to bread, cheese, meat, eggs, olives, pickles, and packaged foods.
