On Friday, January 13, this year's first scheduled CQE Story Time took place at Campbell School.  CQE Story Time is a program that brings together members from our Metuchen community to read a favorite book to first and second graders at Campbell School.   In its 13th year, CQE Story Time is a long standing program sponsored by the Citizens for Quality Education (who also sponsor CQE/MHS Alumni College Day) and is loved by students and the volunteers who have had a chance to participate in it.

Thirty readers came in to share their love of reading with our students on January 13.  Parents and grandparents were joined by Metuchen Superintendent of Schools Vincent Caputo, Metuchen Police Officer Kenneth Bauer, Preschool of Rock's Michael Napolitano, Board of Education member Jackie Gibson, Dr. Peter Freis, Dr. Judith Bland, Dr. Frank Heelan and other members of our community.  The children had a wonderful experience listening to the readers but as important was the opportunity CQE Story Time gave them to meet members of their community and see volunteering at work within their classroom.   There are 2 more CQE Story Times scheduled for the 2011 - 2012 school year:  February 10 and March 2.

You will find additional information about the CQE and its programs, including CQE Story Time, at  http://www.metuchencqe.org/.
