Brainy Borough Chili Challenge = HUGE Success!

From the BIL and Tyree Reuter:

The BIL's First "Brainy Borough Chili Challenge" on Sunday, February 26th was a huge success!  We had a dozen cooks who prepared a wide range of chilis and we sold out all 100 tickets!  Between the tickets and donations, we fully funded this year's $1000 scholarship to a graduating Metuchen High School student pursuing a career in medicine, education, or social work (interested students should apply at the guidance office, and it will be awarded at graduation).  Our panel of judges included Bruce Peragallo (MHS Principal), Chef John from Hailey's Harp & Pub, Frank Dy of the Metuchen Fire Department, Maggy Cook (President of the Metuchen Area Chamber of Commerce), and Chef Dan Slobodien.  The Junior BIL, consisting of young ladies ages 10 to 18, sold beverages and also entered an award-winning chili.  We were honored to have Congressman Frank Pallone in attendance, as well as Metuchen's own Councilwoman Dorothy Rasmussen.  We hope this will become an annual event!  Below are the winners:

**Judges' Choice First Place (voted by panel of local judges)**

Becky Seely, Quick & Light Chili

**Judge's Choice Honorable Mention**

Mike Bakos, Sweet & Roasted Chili

Rich Pearsall, Two Eagles Chili

**First Place, People's Choice (by popular vote)**
