CQE Story Time at Campbell Going Strong

On Friday, February 10th, this year's second scheduled CQE Story Time took place at Campbell School.  CQE Story Time is a program that brings together members from our Metuchen community to read a favorite book to first and second graders at Campbell School.   In its 13th year, CQE Story Time is a long standing program sponsored by Citizens for Quality Education (who also sponsor CQE/MHS Alumni College Day) and is loved by students and the volunteers who have had a chance to participate in it.

Thirty-one readers came in to share their love of reading with Campbell students on February 10th.  Parents and grandparents were joined by Corporal Dan Granato of the Metuchen Police Department, Board of Education member and Metuchen Police Department Sergeant Arthur Flaherty, Board of Education member Jackie Gibson, Edison Board of Education member Dr. Frank Heelan, Dr. Judith Bland, retired first-grade teacher Marilyn Court and other members of our Metuchen community.  The children had a wonderful experience listening to the readers but as important was the opportunity CQE Story Time gave them to meet members of their community and see volunteering at work within their classroom.   The last CQE Story Time scheduled for the 2011 - 2012 school year will be on March 2, which is also Read Across America Day.
