New Garbage Pickup and Recycling Schedule from the DPW, Starting April

The Metuchen Department of Public Works is changing the garbage and recycling pick-up schedules to streamline the process and improve efficiency. Therefore, all residents, beginning this April, will have both their curbside trash and their blue recycling containers picked up on the SAME DAY each week, not every other week. Therefore, all recyclables, including bottles, cans and cardboard and paper will have to be put into the one sanctioned blue container and put out alongside your grey trash container the night before your pickup. This is what is referred as "single stream recycling" and will be a new procedure for the Borough.

The New weekly collection schedule is still based on the four quadrants of town. For further information and a map of your area, please link here to the Borough website.

Depending on the season, grass, leaves or brush will also be placed on the curb that same day. Absolutely everything will get picked up together. If you need to schedule a metal or bulk item pickup, you will have to call the DPW at 732-632-8519 to schedule it. Holidays will cause changes but will be reflected on revised schedules on the Borough website.
