Metuchen High School Concert Percussion Ensemble and Indoor Drum Line were both crowned champions at the Cavalcade of Bands Indoor Championships at Quakertown High School in Quakertown, PA on March 31, 2012.  Both groups had extremely productive seasons, and their hard work was rewarded with gold medals at their final show.  The Concert Percussion Ensemble won it's 4th championship in a row this year.  They won their previous three titles in novice class and this year were promoted to A Class with their show entitled "Flight to Turkey" which is a play on "Flight of the Bumblebee" by Rimsky-Korsakav.  This year's show featured senior xylophone soloist Ryan Johnson and a talented batch of MHS percussionists.  The Indoor Drum Line was in competition for the first time this year, and won a gold medal in its inaugural season.  Their show was entitled "Rewind" and was arranged by MHS Percussion instructor Sean Sullivan.

The staff for both ensembles includes director of the Pride of Metuchen Marching Band, John Messenger, Sean Sullivan, Robert Lazenbery, Samara Gomez, and Jason Gomez.  The Concert Percussion Ensemble had 15 members, and the Indoor Drum Line featured 25 students.  We would like to thank the faculty and staff of the Metuchen School District including superintendent Vincent Caputo, Supervisor of Fine Arts, Mary-Lou Roma, MHS Principal Bruce Peragallo, Athletic Director John Cathcart, the MHS Band and Music Parents and the Metuchen Board of Education for their support during this long and successful season.
