This Weekend Neve Shalom Offers Scholar in Residence Lecture and Memorial Event

Neve Shalom Scholar In Residence will be Friday and Saturday, April 20-21, 2012, on Israel and the Middle East featuring Dr. Daniel Pipes, President, Middle East Forum Visiting Professor Stanford University. Dr. Pipes received his Ph.D. in history from Harvard University in 1978, and spent six years studying abroad, including three years in Egypt. He has written 12 book and his articles appear regularly in over one hundred newspapers and periodicals around the globe. Dr. Pipes discusses current issues on television on such U.S. programs as ABC World News, Crossfire, Good Morning America, News-Hour with Jim Lehrer, Nightline, O'Reilly Factor and The Today Show. There will be a service Friday evening at  6:30pm followed by dinner at 7:15pm (reservations required) and Dr. Pipes will begin speaking at 8pm on Middle East Overview. The Saturday service starts at 9:30am; Dr.Pipes will speak at the service and after the lunch on Threat to Israel's Existence, Why it's Back and How to Deal With It. There will be a catered lunch for those who make reservations and a free "Kiddush" for those who do not. One does not need to attend the meals to participate in the services or program. The annual Scholar-in-Residence Event is sponsored this year by the Scholar-in-Residence Fund, the Ohev Shalom Endowment and the Gilbert and Claudie Hayat Endowment.
