Twenty three eighth grade students from Edgar Middle School participated in the 2012 ROGATE Exposition at Montclair State University.  ROGATE, which stands for Resources Offered for Gifted and Talented Education, is a student research program offered by the Educational Information and Resource Center.  These talented 8th graders participated in a year long course taught by teachers Debbie Brown and Marian O'Connell.  As part of the course, students developed a thesis statement, conducted extensive research of primary and secondary sources, wrote a research paper and prepared a formal oral presentation to be delivered at the Exposition.  This year students wrote on topics including the acceptability of body art, invasive species, childhood obesity, NCAA recruiting violations and cell phone radiation.
