From Marafiki Fair Trade:

Evan Robbins, a teacher at our own Metuchen High School will be giving a talk and slide show about his ongoing quest to rescue child slaves in Ghana, on the west coast of Africa. Evan was inspired to action after reading an article about the Ghanaian "Fishing Children" often sold into slavery as young as 3 or 4 years old by parents who think they are sending their children to a better life. Since then, Evan and his students at Metuchen H.S. have been raising money for his charity, Breaking the Chain Through Education, which builds schools in villages in exchange for the release of child slaves. Twenty children were rescued and rehabilitated one year ago from the village Awate Tornu and the first school is near completion. Evan and his family have recently traveled to Ghana to meet with the children rescued on his previous trip and to observe progress on the new school's construction.

Marafiki Fair Trade is pleased to to help further this cause by donating 10% of all sales and 20% of all sales from items from Ghana during this event. Come out and support our local high school students in their quest to help students in Ghana!
