Satori Academy of NJ, a premier martial arts organization, was awarded Outstanding Business at the 13 th Annual Awards Dinner hosted by the Edison Chamber of Commerce.  The awards dinner took place at the Pines Manor in Edison, NJ.

The Edison Annual Awards Dinner seeks to publicly recognize and honor local businesses that contribute to the economic vitality and overall quality of life of the township by demonstrating responsible business leadership and harmony within the community.

Nancy Walzog, owner of Satori Academy was on hand to receive this prestigious honor.  In addition to thanking Mayor Ricigliano and the Edison Chamber, Walzog graciously acknowledged her staff and students.  "...It is the instructors, students and families of Satori, represented by my colleagues here with me tonight, who should take most of the credit.  Every day, we are greeted by the warm friendly smiles and enthusiasm of our students, ranging in age from 3 to 63. Their exceptional attitude and dedication remind us every day of our mission, the meaning of Satori-- Being in the moment, at your best. Our students deserve nothing less."

In these recent difficult economic times, Walzog managed to grow her business exponentially, with little to no paid advertising.  Walzog's approach is to rely on community outreach and word-of-mouth-referrals from her current clients.  Satori is well known for actively fundraising on behalf of Edison's PTOs and Girl and Cub Scout Organizations, engaging students to support the Mayor's Green Challenge and cleaning up local parks and contributing to local nonprofit organizations.

Walzog's latest outreach effort is a household items drive to benefit Amandla Crossing, an organization that assists local homeless families get back on their feet.  "The drive ends on June 23 rd with our Summer Open House.  Our incredibly generous families have already donated so many items."  Walzog quickly adds, "If you'd like to make a contribution, it's not too late!  Donations may be dropped off at the studio located in the Tano Mall at 1199 Amboy Avenue in Edison between now and June 23 rd ".
