School District Food Service Sponsors Farm Stand Day at Campbell

Pomptonian, the district's food service provider, sponsored a food day celebration that gave the children at Campbell School a chance to sample locally grown apples.  The farmer who grew the apples was there along with two representatives from Pocono Produce, the produce supplier for Pomptonian.  Patty Baxter and Cindy Sue Schaller, both from Pomptonian, made

sure that the kids had a ball. The students were excited to sample the delicious apples at the school farm stand.

The idea of setting up a farm stand in the cafeteria came from Cara Cuite, a parent representative on the district Wellness Committee.  It was part of an initiative to sponsor a Food Day at the elementary school in the district, an idea that Pomptonian loved, cooperating with school officials and volunteers to bring into being.
