Post-Sandy Journalism Seminar November 16th by Citizens Campaign

The Citizens Campaign is hosting free training on Saturday, November 16 to give residents tools and techniques to investigate and report if their town is "ready for next time."

The event is supported in part by the NJ Recovery Fund, which focuses on building stronger and more engaged communities in the wake of Superstorm Sandy. By empowering citizens with the skills and know-how to collect and share information, we can foster greater civic engagement and ensure the public is informed about recovery decisions.

"Eyewitness Reports: Are we ready or not?" will be Saturday, November 16 from 9am - 1pm at Middlesex County College in Edison.  Speakers include Jersey Shore Hurricane News and White House Sandy Hero Justin Auciello, Mayor of South Orange Alex Torpey and The Citizens Campaign Chairman Harry Pozycki.

The event will include four different breakout sessions:

·           Investigative Reporting

·           Upgrading your towns emergency communications

·           How to set up a blog

·           Mapping out Story

This event is free and open to the public, but pre-registration is required. To register visit thecitizenscampaign.org or call (732) 548-9798 x 1.  Morning refreshments and lunch will be provided to our guests at no costs.

Additional sponsors of the series include: Jersey Shore Hurricane News, NJ Spotlight, Creative New Jersey, Sustainable Jersey, WHYY, NJ News Commons, Geraldine R. Dodge Foundation, Community Foundation of New Jersey, and the Rita Allen Foundation.
