UPDATE from the Borough On Bridge Street Conditions

Metuchenites, the DOT has patched some potholes on Bridge street, making it passable for the time being. Councilman Pete Cammarano stated on the MM Facebook page that "The DOT was out yesterday and did some hot patching in the bridge. Hopefully that will hold until spring when they can come back to mill and replace it. They are in contact with the police department regularly to monitor the status."

The original notice from the Borough is on the next page . . .

"Advisory: Bridge Street bridge road condition to be addressed by NJ DOT. Repairs planned. Please use caution on the bridge.

Motorists using the Bridge Street bridge have encountered increasingly poor road conditions this winter. We regret the inconvenience. NJ DOT is responsible for the maintenance and repair of the bridge including the road surface. The Borough has been assured that the bridge will be patched soon and more permanent repairs are planned for the spring. The Borough has also been advised by the DOT not to take any remedial actions on its own. We are continuing to monitor the situation and if conditions are deemed to be unsafe the bridge may be closed and motorists will be advised. In the meantime please use caution crossing the bridge or plan an alternate route."

Thank you, Borough of Metuchen -- see, readers, they heard you!!
