MEF Sponsors Successful Science Fair at Edgar

Aluminum.pngThe Metuchen Education Foundation (MEF) sponsored the Edgar Middle School Science Fair last week with great success. The turnout from sixth graders, according to Katharine Henn, the district's supervisor for Science and Gifted/Talented programs, was the highest it has ever been. Hundreds of projects lined tables at the event, focusing on the use of true scientific method on a variety of interesting experiments. The MEF awarded ribbons to every recipient, who were given a moment to shine at the ceremony following the Fair.

The winners in each grade received special recognition from MEF -- They are as follows:

EIGHTH GRADE: First place, Arnav Agrawal; Second place, Michael Lapczynski; Third Place, Evan Derector; Honorable Mention: Serena McKiernan and Julia Pirro & Chirstina Czochanski.

SEVENTH GRADE: First Place, Julia Memory and Alanna Redwood; Second Place, Shaezmina Khan and Third Place, Chloe Jaques and Nina Suss.

SIXTH GRADE: First Place, Aaron Puerzer and Noah Fong; Second Place, Flavia Delle Femine; Third Place (rie), Daniel Melendez and Aakash Sood; Honorable Mention, Ian Emanuele + Jakob Cherry and Mia Schutz.

FIFTH GRADE: First Place, Isabel Melendez; Second Place, Jai Dreher; Third Place, Jackson Fenner; Honorable Mention, Jessical Grace and Sela Wyetzner.

The winners in each grade will be celebrated at an upcoming Board of Education meeting when District Superintendent Caputo introduces them during a live broadcast, in an ongoing series highlighting exceptional academic achievement in Metuchen schools.

Congratulations to everyone who participated and to MEF for another excellent contribution to our district schools!
