Letters From Within Fundraiser Tuesday April 29th at Hailey's

Letters from Within is a web-based, international film project documenting daily life, travel, and volunteer experiences in off-the-beaten path locations across the world. Metuchen resident Keith Timko, the project's producer, and founding members Dmitry (Dima) Petrov and Anna Soldatova, who hail from St. Petersburg, Russia, will host a fundraiser on Tuesday April 29 from 6-8 PM at Hailey's Harp & Pub in support of the first project in Nepal in fall 2014. Using minimally intrusive equipment and crew, Dima and Anna will chronicle their volunteer experiences in Nepal. "While it is wonderful to see new parts of the world as a tourist, international volunteering is one of the best ways to immerse yourself in another culture. It allows you to understand a place in a different and deeper way. We envision this Letters from Within project as a unique window into Nepalese culture that will offer a completely different perspective. It's a point-of-view rooted in the stories, smiles and sadness and sights and sounds of local residents and daily life," says Dima.

The Nepal project will be part of a larger collection of 7-10 minute films, produced in the "road movie" tradition, to be housed on the Letters from Within website (http://lettersfromwithin.com) as well as You Tube and Vimeo channels. The films are meant to entertain, provide a window into seldom seen parts of the world, and inspire others to volunteer and travel with purpose. The Letters from Within team will share information about the project at the April 29 fundraiser. A $25 donation at the door gets you a drink ticket and appetizers; Hailey's Harp & Pub is located at 400 Main St. in Metuchen.
