Build
with Purpose has received a $121,850 Community Development Financial
Institutions (CDFI) Technical Assistance (TA) award from the U.S. Department of the Treasury's CDFI Fund. Build with Purpose is just one of 22
organizations to receive the TA award. On Tuesday, the CDFI
Fund announced a total of $158.2
million in Financial Assistance
awards to 130 CDFIs and $2.6 million in TA awards to 22 certified
and emerging CDFIs.
The
TA award will provide funds for training and capacity building for Build with
Purpose to achieve CDFI certification. "We
are excited by this new opportunity and appreciative of the support. This
grant will provide Build with Purpose the resources to obtain CDFI
certification which will enable us to better serve low-income communities in
and around New Jersey," said Brian Keenan, Director and President of Build with
Purpose.
The purpose of the CDFI Program
is to use federal resources to invest in existing and emerging CDFIs and to
build their capacity to serve low-income people and communities that lack
access to affordable financial products and services. Since 1994, the CDFI Fund
has awarded more than $1.3 billion in FA and TA awards through the CDFI
Program.
