Upcoming Events at Temple Emanu-El: Who wants to Audition for High School Musical Jr?

Winter 2015              High School Musical Jr.   Temple Emanu-El in Edison welcomes children from the entire community to participate in its second musical production for youth, "High School Musical, Jr." This is the perfect opportunity for children in grades 2 - 12 to enjoy the experience and camaraderie of working on a show with their peers, not to mention the chance to try performing in a fun, family friendly environment. The musical will be directed by experienced, professional children's theater director, Tova Halpern from Fresh Theatre Arts, LLC. '"High School Musical, Jr" is presented through special arrangement with Music Theater International, MTI.  All authorized performance materials are also supplied by MTI.

Rehearsals will be held on Sundays from 3-5pm at Temple Emanu-El, beginning on January 11, 2015. Additional time will be required for technical rehearsals immediately preceding the performance, which is scheduled for March 22, 2015. 
The cost is $140 per child and $115 for a sibling.

December 5             TOT Shabbat!  An age-appropriate Friday evening Shabbat  program for younger children up to six years old which includes a Jewish-themed art/craft session. The program starts at 6 pm. 


December 7             Mitzvah Day  This is a day when our congregation performs acts of loving kindness for people in need. Everyone, young and older, is welcome to help in the various activities that make a difference in the lives of others.  We begin at 1:00 p.m. on various projects that include sorting clothing (bring clothes that you no longer need or use), and such things as children's books, wrapping paper, baby hats and blankets and food for our food pantry. You'll come away this day knowing you have done good deeds.


December 12           Shabbat ALIVE! A joyous and participatory musical service. Come raise your voices to the heavens as we share your pleasure.  Music with a three piece band. 7:00 p.m.


December 12-19     Jewish Book Fair for Children and Adults!  Just in time for your Chanukah shopping, Temple Emanu-El is hosting its annual Jewish Book Fair, with a great variety of books for people of all ages.  Call the temple office for exact times.

December 13           Chanukah Laser Light Show Join us as the Chanukah story becomes a duel of light beams with fantastic lighting effects. We will celebrate Havdalah and then watch an exciting laser light show, performed by science edu-tainer Ken Fink from Wondergy, and culminating in a giant menorah lighting you'll never forget!  For adults and kids of all ages. Light refreshments will be served.  A Jewish book fair will be open before and after the program.  Open to the whole community and free for all attendees! December 19           Chanukah Shabbat Dinner and Service  Yum, delicious chicken, potato latkes, and salad served at 6:00 p.m. Cost is $11 for adults, $9 for children. RSVP necessary (by December 12th)  Dinner will be followed by a Special Chanukah Family Service appropriate for all ages.
