"Looking Back" Transformations Gallery Exhibit Reception

Transformations Gallery at the Old Franklin Schoolhouse is currently an installation of some of the Metuchen-Edison Historical Society's most interesting and beautifully composed images from its archives in an exhibit entitled "Looking Back: unexpected images from the archives."  Most of the photographs come from the Frey-Sen Collection donated to the Society in 2007, and date primarily from the 1950s and early 1960s.  On November 16 there will be a special opportunities to view the exhibit, when the Borough Improvement League co-hosts a special reception with the Metuchen-Edison Historical Society's members and friends .  The reception will include a showing of the ca.1929 "Metuchen Movie" and light refreshments.   All of the high quality prints, custom-mounted in archivally stable frames, are available for sale.

Doctor Who: A Staged Radio Play Parody & Immersive Themed Party

The Old Franklin Schoolhouse is the fabled police phone box (it's bigger on the inside) and London during the Blitz with staged productions of "The Empty Child" & "The Doctor Dances."   Theatrical lighting, period costumes, vintage commercials, a variety of themed snacks and drinks, an extensive display of Doctor Who memorabilia, a live rendition of "It Had to Be You," and an appearance by a celebrated Eighth Doctor cosplayer/Who historian.  $25 in advance. $35 at the door. $15 for ages 18 and under. Tickets available at Marafiki Fair Trade at 20 New Street in Metuchen, or online (will call).

Grateful and Thankful -- Musical Coat Drive With Kül d'Sack!

Kül d'Sack makes their triumphant return to Old Franklin Schoolhouse on the Saturday after Thanksgiving for a special night of classic rock and holiday cheer! If you missed the schoolhouse's Deadfest weekend in 2013, this is your chance to see the band that blew everyone away!  Admission is a "gently used" coat, or even a new coat if you are so inclined, or some canned goods for the Jersey Cares organization.   "Coats and cans" may also be dropped off at the schoolhouse from 12pm onward that day.  For more information about Jersey Cares, visit www.jerseycares.org
