Support Brian Tobin's Polar Bear Plunge for Down Syndrome Kids

Brian Tobin in Metuchen is about to take the Polar Bear Plunge on behalf of his nephew Colin. Check out the info here and donate if you want to help!

"Welcome to my annual fundraising campaign for the Special Olympics.  It means that I cared enough to save your email and beg, beg, beg, for your support!

As you may or may not know, my adorable little nephew has Down Syndrome. In honor of Colin, I am once again taking part in the 2015 Polar Bear Plunge on Saturday, February 21, 2015.

If I can reach an aggressive goal of $10,000, a team of friends and I will jump into the frigid cold Atlantic Ocean in SMURF COSTUMES!!!

If I raise the following amounts, I will wear a fun "get up."

·  For $5000, I will wear a funny Halloween costume that is simple yet dopey.

·  For $10,000, my friends and I will wear SMURF COSTUMES!  We will be sure to theme them up, but I can assure you that I will be vying for Brainy Smurf.

As always, every contribution is awesome, but let's see if we can get up to $10,000 this year!  For those of you that own businesses, it's VERY acceptable to donate both personally and through your business. And, for those of you who can take advantage of matching-gifts programs: (1) Awesome! and (2) Please let me know if you plan to submit a matching gift, so I can keep better track of my fundraising.

I have some extra Polar Bear Plunge items to share with a few lucky donors! For every $25 that you contribute, your name will go into a hat and will be eligible for the drawing, which will take place soon after the plunge.

To further encourage you to donate, let me give you some awesome reasons!

1. Colin -- Attached, you will find a picture of Colin starting his race at his third Special Olympics last summer.  That is Chris - his father - taking his picture.  Man, does Colin look committed!  He was part of the Young Athletes Program.  He was SUPER proud of himself, and he should have been.

2.  The above dated but informative video about Colin and my brother and his family should show you just how awesome it all is.

3.  All funds raised through the Polar Bear Plunge help to advance the goal of Special Olympics New Jersey, to provide free year-round training and competition in 24 Olympic-type sports to more than 21,000 children and adults with intellectual disabilities.

4. To make me look sillier and sillier... and win prizes.

HOW TO MAKE A DONATION . . .  see next page for links

1.  You can make an online donation of $25, $50, $100 or any amount by visiting my personal donation page and helping me reach my fundraising goal.  I created this "tinyurl" page to make it easier on everyone, but if you are nervous about it, you can see the full link at the bottom of the email.  Either click on this link or copy and paste it into your browser.

2. Please print out the attached document and mail the document and check made out to Special Olympics New Jersey to my attention at 84 Main Street, Metuchen, NJ 08840.  I will bundle the checks and deliver to the Special Olympics myself.

Thank you so much in advance.  It really does mean so much to me. BRIAN TOBIN"
