SAVE the DATE for Summer Blood Drive at What's the Scoop

Hi, all! You may have wondered why new posts weren't going up on the site recently. We had a very severe internet breakdown at Metuchen Matters (aka my home office) and spent weeks having Optimum replacing wires and cables and routers and such to make everything run again. SO I would love to know if there is an experienced and not-too-expensive IT expert out there who could help me with the website when things are going to the technology dogs. Contact Jana Siciliano at and we can discuss! This is an occasional position with pay. Thanks!
Planned Parenthood - Event Reminder

Join your DAM friends as they host Nicole Matos, Public Affairs Manager for Planned Parenthood of Northern, Central and Southern NJ who will provide us with updates on the ways Planned Parenthood helps our friends & neighbors in NJ. Learn about what you can do to help preserve these life-saving medical centers - an essential topic for discussion, particularly in light of recent congressional acts on healthcare:

Date: Tuesday May 9th
Time: 8pm
Where: Old Franklin Schoolhouse (491 Middlesex Avenue)
NB: Attendees are encouraged to bring a non-perishable item for the Metuchen food pantry.

The "War on Women" has been going on for years. With recent changes in government leadership, extremists feel more empowered than ever to attack women where it matters most, in potentially life-saving medical care.

We look forward to seeing  you on Tuesday May 9th.

Team 7350, Watt NXT, advances again to the FIRST World Championship on Sunday March 19, 2017! Last weekend, Watt NXT competed alongside 75 of the best teams on the East Coast at the East Super Regional Championship in Scranton, Pennsylvania for a chance to compete at the highly coveted World Championship in St. Louis, Missouri.

Watt NXT is a FIRST Tech Challenge Robotics Team based in Middlesex County, New Jersey. Composed of members spanning grades 8 to 12 from Edison Township and Metuchen schools, this team is determined to spread enthusiasm for STEM education. The team connects with engineering mentors, employ creative designs for their robot and be innovative when executing them, and most importantly - spread the love of science, technology, engineering, math, and FIRST throughout the community. The team also helps their local community understand FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology), the FIRST Tech Challenge, and the team itself. At the end of last month, the team also participated in the New Jersey and Pennsylvania State Championships and won the prestigious Control and Connect Awards, respectively, making them eligible to participate in the East Coast Super Regional Championship.

This past weekend, Watt NXT was nominated for the Think and Motivate Awards which allowed the team to advance to the World Championship. The Think Award is given to the team that the judges feel best understood the role of the engineering notebook in the design process. The engineering notebook is the key reference for judges to help them identify the most deserving team. This engineering notebook focused on the design and build stages of the team's robot and exemplified their journey as a team and engineers. Watt NXT was also nominated for the Motivate Award because they exemplified the essence of the FIRST Tech Challenge competition through team building, team spirit and exhibited enthusiasm. The team celebrated their team, their individuality and their spirit through team attire, and exhibits their outstanding team spirit. Watt NXT's enthusiasm and spirit motivates others to embrace the culture of the competition and FIRST. The team has also made a collective effort to make FIRST known throughout their school and community. The team was also ranked 8th place in their division, Hopper Division.
