The Junebug Sculpture, the signature piece of this year's festival created by artist Roy Chambers, was unveiled on June 5th.  Made entirely of recycled materials such as a discarded tuba, the legs of a discarded swing set, copper piping from Roy's sink, and old plastic bottles (to name just a few), it's a beautiful piece that will stand near Metuchen Savings Bank for the duration of the festival. (and my photo does NOT do the piece any justice!)

How long have you and Jim been involved with the Edgar theater program?

This is our ninth show at Edgar.  We started when our son Steven was there with Pirates of Penzance.  I always like to choose a show that has a large chorus and several leading and supporting roles.  This way many students can be featured.  Although they must audition, I take everyone who wants to do the show.  That can be very tricky on this tiny stage. 

On May 9, the School of Visual Arts in Manhattan gave out its prestigious student awards at the Dusty Film Animation Festival to graduating seniors.Metuchen resident Elyssa ELYSSA DIGIOVANNI won the Human Spirit Award for her film TRADE WINDS.
